All that glitters is Bronze
1/09/2009
On August 24th the shiny new 33rd edition Bronze Medallion manual (now called the
Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue Training Manual) became available for sale.
Compiled by an editorial team which included lifesaving and education representatives from every state, the manual is the result of many months of intensive and painstaking research, writing and consultation.
While the basic content of the manual will be familiar to all surf lifesavers, subtle changes in emphasis and a revision to include the latest best practice in lifesaving, rescue and first aid techniques makes this a manual that all members will be proud to have on hand.
New in this edition is a chapter on the history and background of surf lifesaving, and a new club induction checklist.
To ensure that Bronze Medallion surf lifesavers are keeping pace with latest best practice in first aid and resuscitation, there is also new content on defibrillation, new rescue techniques, and modified carries.
The new 33rd edition Bronze Manual (now called the Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue Training Manual) is available either through your club, or from SLSA - click here for further information.
For your club Training Officer workshop a Powerpoint presentation is available to assist you in understanding the changes in the manual.
The new educational resources keep on coming with the release of the
2nd edition Australian Lifesaving Academy First Aid Training Manual.
Completely revised and rewritten from cover to cover, the new manual has been designed to be the definitive first aid resource not only for surf lifesavers, but for everyone with a need to learn first aid.
With contributions from surf lifesavers and medical experts from around the country, the manual includes new information on defibrillation, and latest best practice first aid techniques.
It’s easy to read, with lots of colourful and clear photographs and graphics.
It also includes an extensive professional glossary and index.
The new manual is set to become the definitive Australian first aid resource and is also available either through your club, state centre or from SLSA.
