Using Education to Save Lives on Beaches
Public Safety Training Package ReviewA review of the Public Safety Training Package is underway by Government Skills Australia (GSA) with SLSA being the lead agent for the aquatic rescue qualifications.
The aim of the project is to produce a qualifications framework including skill sets, communication strategy, and consultation plan for the aquatic and marine rescue sector that will inform the broader review of the Public Safety Training Package.

As noted elsewhere on this site, education plays a vital role in aquatic safety.
As part of its Total Service Plan, SLSA provides a number of fields of community education including first aid and resuscitation.

SLSA also prides itself on developing quality educational resources for its members.
Since 1910, when the Bronze Medallion become the pre-requisite for all surf lifesavers, SLSA has provide education and training for hundreds of thousands of people.
Now, SLSA, with the introduction of the Australian Lifesaving Academy (ALA), is in the process of developing standardised educational resources for use across the country.
